Americans are praying for totalitarian Australia

Understanding our culture may put your mind at ease

A lot of Americans seem to be worrying about the way Australia has responded to Covid. From month long lockdowns to travel restrictions it seems we are coming across as the latest addition to the worlds totalitarian dystopias.

There have been demonstrations in “solidarity” with Australians in New York and social media calls for prayers to support Australians suffering under our vaccine imposing regime.

Most recently, conservative commentator Candace Owens suggested the US conduct a military liberation of Australia. She follows in the wake of the Florida Governor who said Australia was beginning to resemble communist China and Republican Senator Ted Cruz who declared he was standing with the Australians suffering under our covid-tyranny.

Yes there has definitly been a totalitarian whif to some of the measures taken in this country. But Americans criticising us for this is a bit like Australians criticising American gun laws. Locking people up is part of our culture. It is literally the founding principle of this country.

The US has founding fathers. We have founding jailers. Once we let the white people out, we locked up the Black folks who were already here. Aboriginal people…
